OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES ABOUND

Come enjoy the hiking and hunting opportunities offered in the National Forest lands surrounding the

Bitterroot Valley.  The Bitterroot National Forest’s headquarters is located in Hamilton, Montana.  The

Anaconda-Pintlar and Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness areas are part of the forest system.  Hunting is available for small game and birds but Montana is best known for the big game hunting opportunities.  Hunting is

available for bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, elk, mule deer, whitetail deer and black bears.  We also have a growing turkey population.  There is now a resident flock of turkeys on our property numbering over 100 birds.  I personally, (Jeff), have had a herd of 30 elk standing in my driveway in the middle of the

afternoon, had a black bear raiding my fruit trees, had moose on our land and regularly have whitetail deer and mule deer on our property.    The picture of the Bighorn sheep seen below is hanging in my office and was taken up the East Fork of the Bitterroot River.

Fishermen can enjoy the trout fishing offered by the “Blue Ribbon trout streams” of the Bitterroot River system, Como Lake, Painted Rocks Lake or the numerous pristine mountain lakes.

There are miles of maintained trails to hike and it’s possible to leave the rest of the world behind for days at a time.
